Netherhall Celebrates New Report
Netherhall is a ‘Good’ School
A recent conducted at the request of the Local Authority, has given cause for celebration at The Netherhall School and Sixth Form Centre. In the first independent full school review since becoming an academy and, indeed, since the last OfSTED inspection, the report concludes that measures taken since 2014 have resulted in significant improvements in all areas. The report agrees with the school’s self-evaluation, that Netherhall is now a ‘Good’ school in OfSTED terms.
In particular, the following strengths are highlighted:
- Strong leadership and effective school improvement plans including monitoring and evaluating procedures have improved pupil outcomes.
- The restructured governing body has a good understanding of the school’s strengths and areas for development. New governance roles are well matched to school improvement priorities.
- Good progress is made by most students in almost all subjects.
- Teaching, learning and assessment have improved over time and are now good.
- Relationships between teachers and students are warm, friendly and professional.
- Students are polite, well-mannered and extremely respectful of others. Students have excellent attitudes to their learning and are highly appreciative of the support their teachers provide. They all agree that behaviour in classrooms and around the school is calm and well ordered.
- Safeguarding policies and practice are effective.
The report also acknowledges that in the few examples where there are areas for development, the school already has strategies in place to address them.
Albena Madej, Chair of Governors, states, “We are absolutely thrilled at the contents of the report, particularly the contrast to 2014. It is clear to us that the school is making huge strides in all areas which is brilliant news. It is clear to us all that this report reflects the way that the whole Netherhall team has pulled together and supported each other. In itself this is impressive, but the fact this this has happened in the midst of one of the most challenging periods of the school’s history makes it even more commendable.”
