National Schools Commissioner Visits Anglian Learning

Dominic Herrington, the National Schools Commissioner received a warm welcome from Jonathan Culpin, CEO, and Claire Lawton, Chair of Trustees, when he visited Anglian Learning.  Dominic Herrington was accompanied by Sue Baldwin, Regional Schools Commissioner for East of England and North-East London and they both met with pupils from Anglian Leaning schools.  The pupils were keen to share with the National Schools Commissioner and Regional Schools Commissioner their experiences of being a pupil at an Anglian Learning school and their hopes and ambitions for the future.

Dominic Herrington and Sue Baldwin were led on a tour of Bottisham Village College’s new facilities by Jenny Rankine, Principal.  They were impressed with the quality of education including the support given to pupils with particular mental health requirements.

Following this a meeting with the Trust Leadership Team was held.  Dominic Herrington and Sue Baldwin heard how Anglian Learning is a Trust of growth, with a focus on school improvement strategies and an aspiration to support all schools in the region.

Jonathan Culpin, CEO commented “We were delighted to host this visit by the National Schools Commissioner and Regional Schools Commissioner, which was an opportunity for the strengths of Anglian Learning to be showcased.  Our strong governance, our appetite for growth alongside strict financial controls were shared and how our schools and Local Governing Bodies have autonomy within a Trust framework was highlighted.”
