Matilda the Musical at Bassingbourn Village College
The annual school musical at Bassingbourn Village College was a sell-out success.
A packed hall saw an audience of over 200 family and friends enjoy the school’s version of Matilda the Musical. Based on the famous Roald Dahl book and with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, the show was a sparkling success from start to finish.
The main role of Matilda was shared by junior students Megan Badger, Leah Wylie and Erin Cooper whilst yr 11 student Ollie Rogers stole the show as the evil Miss Trunchbull.
The cast of 40 were led by senior dance and drama students Ollie and Ciru Mungai, with teachers Jude Shortt and Jo Lambert rehearsing with the students all through the autumn term. Students also took on the roles of backstage support and front of house technical roles.
Ms Shortt, head of drama at Bassingbourn Village College, said:”I am immensely proud of absolutely everyone that was involved – it was a real team effort and a brilliant production!”
