Anti-Bullying Week
Bottisham Primary has marked the start of Anti-Bullying Week 2021 with Odd Socks Day on Monday 15 November. Odd Socks Day is an event run by the Anti-Bullying Alliance during which pupils and staff were invited to come to school wearing odd socks as a fun way to celebrate all that makes us special and unique.
The theme for Anti-Bullying Week this year is ‘One Kind Word’. The isolation of the last year has underlined how little acts of consideration can break down barriers and brighten the lives of the people around us. This is one of the reasons, that ‘One Kind Word’ has been chosen as the theme of Anti-Bullying Week. Pupils joined in with a live virtual assembly lead by Cambridge Utd on ‘ripples of kindness’ that built on this theme, encouraging the children to think about the impact that doing one kind thing for someone else might have.
Throughout the rest of this week, pupils will explore the theme of anti-bullying in lessons, discussing how to recognise bullying and how to prevent it from happening as well as using drama and stories to help identify what they can do if they think that they or someone else is being bullying.
