Pupils Sing at Cathedral for The Platinum Jubilee
A fabulous celebration for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year has been held at St Edmundsbury Cathedral. All eight of our primary schools joined together to sing a harmonious collection of songs.
This special event was arranged by Emma Mason who is the Music Subject Lead at Linton Heights Junior School. Emma said: “The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is a momentous occasion and Anglian Learning primary schools are delighted to come together and celebrate this event through music. We know that singing lovely songs in the beauty of Bury St Edmund’s cathedral will leave both pupils and staff with lasting memories of this special event.”
Jonathan Culpin, CEO of Anglian Learning said: “This wonderful commemoration of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee has provided an unforgettable experience for pupils from all of our primary schools. We encourage our schools to collaborate and what better example of that is an event such as this – where the singing skills of our pupils can be demonstrated and shared all together. My thanks to Emma and all staff involved in the preparation for this brilliant opportunity for our pupils.”
Individual performances were made by each participating primary school: Bottisham, Fen Ditton, Howard, Icknield, Meadow, Pines, Stapleford and Linton Heights Junior School. The event focussed on a ‘Together in our World’ theme, inspired by The Queen’s Jubilee message of togetherness, and her passion for protecting our world from climate change. All of the Trust’s primary Music Subject Leads enjoyed working together for this occasion and hope to plan similar musical activities in the future.
