I received an invitation to be part of the Gold Award celebration at Buckingham Palace on 10 May in recognition of my efforts in establishing the Duke of Edinburgh Award programme at The Netherhall School.

Some highlights of the visit were the opportunity to hear inspirational talks by His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh, Heather Fisher, an Olympic rugby player, and Billy Monger, a racing driver. Their continued support of the Duke of Edinburgh Award program was evident in how they spoke about its impact on the lives of young people.

This celebration proved to be invaluable, offering fresh insights and inspiration to further enhance the programme at The Netherhall School.

My visit was a truly unforgettable experience and I felt immensely proud to represent The Netherhall School and the Trust in their commitment to youth development. It reinforced the importance of fostering leadership, resilience, and personal growth among our young people.

Going forward, I hope to work with other schools within the Trust to further promote the Duke of Edinburgh Award programme with a collaborative support network to help expand opportunities for pupils.
