August 2024

The Technical Services Team met for their second Annual Summer Conference on Wednesday 28 August at Bottisham Village College.  18 colleagues were in attendance, including those from Stour Valley Educational Trust, who joined us for the event.

Richard Mayer opened the event and set the scene on topics such as team member responsibilities, growth, alignment projects and horizon scanning.  Ewan Murray then presented a very engaging session on the organisation’s current Cyber Security strategies and projects before a Group Think session, where colleagues broke out into three groups to brainstorm “what more can be done to improve our organisation’s Cyber Security posture?”. Several ideas flowed and these will now be distilled and pursued as additional strategies.

The team then had a presentation from Nathan Durrant on all things Apple, with a focus on the management of these devices and this included a fun interactive session on iPads to experience Apple Classroom.

In the afternoon, Daniel Burling took the stage to discuss our Windows strategy, including deployment, versioning and the future role of Microsoft InTune.

Richard Mayer then offered further briefings on iTrent, User Provisioning, Teams Phone, Cashless Catering and Data Redaction before each Trust IT Manager took us through projects they had undertaken in the past twelve months.

The event was described as “well structured”, “very useful” and “engaging” by colleagues and another has been further enthused to pursue specialised training in Cyber Security as part of his CPD.
