The junior school in Linton recently opened their doors and welcomed past pupils and staff to join their 50th anniversary celebration.

The school’s alumni enjoyed a cream tea and birthday cake as well as musical performances from across the decades by current pupils.

Linton Heights Junior School was built in 1974 and has proudly served the village of Linton for the past 50 years. Throughout its history, the school has maintained strong links with the local community including the churches of Linton and Linton CE Infant School. The junior school is the main feeder school for Linton Village College.

James Puxley, Headteacher said: “It was a joyous and very special occasion during which our school’s alumni had the opportunity to take a trip down memory lane. We are grateful to the local community for their support of the school over the past fifty years helping our pupils, both past and present, to flourish and thrive. Support has been provided by local businesses such as Camgrain, Dalehead Foods and the local Co-op who have worked closely with the school over many years.”

Mr Puxley continued: “Current pupils and members of staff were delighted to hear from former staff and past pupils about their memorable experiences of their time at the school.”

Mrs Serena Hanks a former pupil at Linton Heights during the 1980s and current parent at the school commented: “It was fabulous to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Linton Heights and see at first hand, just how it has changed over the years. It was so special to be able to talk to others – both former pupils and staff members and reminisce about all of the happy memories that we have about the school.”
