Year 11 GCSE Dance students have been participating in a highly prestigious project with internationally acclaimed dance company Hofesh Shechter II Dance Company. The project was aimed at sixth form colleges, so we were delighted to be asked to participate. The first part of the project saw our Year 11 participate in a workshop with the rehearsal director and two dancers from Hofesh Shechter II at LVC. The workshop enabled our dancers to learn professional repertoire from the current Hofesh Shechter work. Following the workshop, our students developed the material learnt in the workshop to enhance their GCSE performance piece.

Our students were fortunate to perform their choreographed piece at DanceEast in October. DanceEast is an Arts Council dance house which sees companies from all over the world perform. Our students performed their work along with students from Suffolk New College and Colchester Sixth Form College. The performance was also watched by the Hofesh Shecter II Company dancers and producers, who gave all groups valuable feedback. It was a fantastic experience for our students to perform at DanceEast in addition to seeing how the two sixth form colleges had also developed the same choreography material into their own work. Our Year 11 students performed brilliantly, and their performance received valuable praise from both Hofesh Shechter dancers and also the sixth form students.

Congratulations to all students involved in this project. We were delighted to be involved in a project which challenged our students by working alongside a professional company.
