Anglian Learning has expanded its leadership team with the appointment of two experienced educators to enhance its primary and secondary educational offerings. 

Jonathan Rockey has joined as Deputy Director of Secondary Education, while Laura Rawlings has been promoted to Deputy Director of Primary Education.

Jonathan brings a wealth of experience, including six successful years as a secondary school principal and two additional years as His Majesty’s Inspector (HMI), during which he led over 80 inspections. He also holds NPQH and NPQEL qualifications. 

Jonathan said “It is a privilege to have the opportunity to enhance secondary education at Anglian Learning. I am excited to bring my years of experience to support school leaders and ensure we deliver the highest quality education for all pupils, regardless of their starting points.” 

Jonathan will work closely with Duncan Cooper, Director of Secondary Education at Anglian Learning. Duncan said: “I am thrilled to welcome Jonathan to our Trust. His vast experience in school improvement, combined with insights gained as both a principal and inspector, will inspire excellence across our secondary schools and provide invaluable support to our principals.” 

Laura Rawlings, who has been a part of Anglian Learning since 2022, steps into her new role after successfully leading Stapleford Community Primary School. Her first headship was 13 years ago in a middle school, and she had other experience in a range of school settings up until joining Anglian Learning. She also worked as a lecturer and tutor on the Primary and Middle Years Teacher Training programmes at the University of Cambridge, bringing a deep understanding of teaching and learning to her role. She also holds the NPQH qualification.

Laura commented “I am delighted to progress in my career with Anglian Learning. I look forward to collaborating with talented educators across our primary schools to drive positive change and foster a lifelong love of learning in every child.” 

Laura will collaborate with Rachael Johnston, Director of Primary Education at Anglian Learning. Rachael said: “Our community of schools are thrilled to have Laura in this new capacity. Her extensive background and passion for education align perfectly with our Core Value of Aspiration, as we continue to support professional growth and development within Anglian Learning.”
