On Wednesday, 27 August, our Technical Services team met at Bottisham Village College for their annual day of sharing ideas, best practices and collaboration. As a Trust with 18 schools, these gatherings provide the opportunity to reconnect and recharge with colleagues from across our schools. It also provided an opportunity to introduce our new colleagues from Staploe Education Trust’s four schools, due to join Anglian Learning in the Spring term.

Richard Mayer, Director of ICT, opened the conference, outlining the insightful discussions taking place throughout the day and key projects for the year ahead. The conference then invites IT managers from across our schools to present their expertise on key strategies, and holds group discussions on trending topics, such as “What should be the development priorities for Technical Services over the next 12 months”?

Whilst the embedding of technology within schools enhances pupils’ learning experience, safeguarding them online is of utmost importance. This was highlighted by Ewan Murray in his Cyber Security Strategies segment, which looked at how Anglian Learning is investing in Tenable Nessus, Dark Web Monitoring and Microsoft Defender services to protect our pupils.

The morning rounded up with a presentation from “The Two Stephens” on good Asset Management and Helpdesk Working Practice. In the afternoon, updates were given on the final stages of our Trust transitioning to Windows 11, networking and shared services and an opportunity for each school cluster to showcase the projects they have been working on during the previous academic year.
