Read on to be inspired by her success…
‘When Lesley takes something on, it will happen, and it will be excellent. She is also a delight to work with, as humble as she is inspirational and determined. At Sawston Village College, Lesley has been instrumental in countless pupil projects, most notably creating a First World War memorial statue, a Holocaust memorial artwork, a Rwandan Genocide commemorative artwork, and establishing Arts Award as an integral part of the school curriculum. Lesley also runs the successful community cinema supported by pupils, maintaining this rare local tradition, alongside a long-running and award-winning pupil film-making club.
‘At Trust level, Lesley has been central to enriching and elevating Arts provision across our 22 schools. She provides training, organises exhibitions and performances, and supports schools to achieve ArtsMark, including several reaching Platinum level, and embedding Arts Award programmes. Lesley’s contribution to a collaborative Arts event—resulting in 384 pupils achieving Arts Award Discover—demonstrates her ambition, drive, and commitment to nurturing creativity and amplifying pupil voice. Building on the success of our Secondary Art Exhibitions which she leads, she has also enabled the development of our first dedicated primary exhibition. Lesley champions professional development and is supporting several staff members to become Arts Award advisers. Her determination to broaden opportunities and celebrate pupil achievement is truly inspirational, and her impact continues to shape and strengthen Arts education across our Trust. As Lesley moves into retirement, she leaves an enviable, distinct legacy.’
