Relationships
Relationships
Anglian Learning prioritises and nurtures positive relationships between pupils, teachers, and peers as the foundation for fostering a sense of belonging. The overall aims of the Relationships strand are:
- For all our schools to be welcoming, happy and safe places where learners and their families feel they belong.
- For the principles of Positive Regard and relational practices to be integral across all our schools
- For all our learners have at least one trusted adult they feel that they can turn to if they need support
- An overall reduction in suspensions and behavioural incidents.
Positive Regard

Luke Mitchell, Head of Positive Regard at Positive Regard, speaking at the Positive Regard training programme at Marleigh Primary Academy
Anglian Learning’s headteachers recently attended a conference to introduce the principles of ‘Positive Regard’, and how this will develop the Relationships strand. Following this introduction, a 5-day training programme is being delivered to our school’s senior leaders which focuses on:
- The importance of a values-driven culture to enable relational practice to flourish in a school
- The neuroscience that sits behind our responses to situations as well as the functions of the behaviour itself
Through these collective efforts, Anglian Learning is intentionally working towards creating environments that will enable our pupils to feel a true sense of belonging, helping them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
