Mark Bonner, former pupil of The Icknield Primary School and current head coach of Cambridge United, took a trip down memory lane when he visited a delighted group of Year 5 and 6 pupils to discuss his career path.

Mark attended The Icknield Primary School, located in Sawston, from 1990 to 1997. During his visit, Mark answered questions from the pupils about his career, and toured the school with his former Year 5 teacher and now Deputy Headteacher, Mrs Claire Arnold and Headteacher, Diane Mitchell.

Mrs Mitchell said “The staff and pupils at The Icknield Primary School were very excited to welcome Mark to the school. Mark spent the morning answering questions from our ambitious Year 5 and 6 pupils, who were keen to hear about all that he has achieved during his inspiring career path and learn about his role as coach at Cambridge United.

We would like to thank Mark for the time he has given to our pupils, which we know will be aspirational for them and a day they will not forget anytime soon”.

Mark said “It was wonderful to revisit The Icknield Primary School and reminisce about my days as a pupil with Mrs Arnold, who taught me back in 1996. It was also a pleasure to meet the current pupils, who asked brilliant questions during my time with them”.
