Dr Helen Pain, Chair of Trustees for Anglian Learning, has received an MBE from His Majesty King Charles III’s 2024 New Year’s Honours. The award recognises her significant contributions to science.

Helen is the CEO of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), a professional body and scientific publisher with over 500 staff based in Cambridge. During her career, she has led many of the RSC’s strategic functions including Education and Professional Practice, Science and Communities, Membership and RSC China.

Helen joined Anglian Learning’s board in April 2020 and later was appointed Chair of Trustees in the Summer of 2023. On receiving her award, Helen said “I am immensely proud to be honoured and recognised for my services to science. I have been privileged to work with so many outstanding individuals and talented teams who share my passion and commitment to the science profession.

In accepting this honour, I want to thank everyone who has worked with me on behalf of the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Science Council and the Technician Commitment.”
