In May, after two years as Chair of the Trust Board and many more as a trustee of Joyce Frankland Academy, Newport and, from January 2020, a trustee of Anglian Learning, Dr Helen Pain MBE is stepping down.

We would like to thank Helen for her leadership of the board, and for providing invaluable support and challenge in guiding our Trust through a period of substantial change, which has included growth, reorganisation of shared services and responding to the ongoing financial uncertainty that we and the wider education sector face.

Throughout this period, Helen has championed the needs of all pupils, but especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds and ensuring that our moral purpose is always at the heart of any decision making.

Three people stand in front of a blue board. On the left, a lady with short, white hair is wearing a colourful dress and pink cardigan. In the middle, a lady with long grey hair is wearing a black cardigan with jeans and is holding a bunch of flowers. On the right, a man is wearing a suit with a blue tie. All are smiling at the camera.

Dr Helen Pain MBE (centre) was presented with flowers by Jon Culpin, CEO and Kerrie Jones, Head of Governance, Compliance and Risk at her final Trust Board Meeting in May 2025.

We wish Helen all the best for the future.
