The Arts Matter at Anglian Learning

First and foremost, we believe the arts matter in their own right. Further, Anglian Learning believes that arts and culture play a crucial role in a broad and balanced education, which means we are committed to ensuring that an enriching arts offer is available in all of our schools. We see this commitment as both supporting our aim of helping young people to become fulfilled, confident and creative individuals, able to contribute as responsible members of society, and supporting our schools to deliver on their improvement priorities.

To support our work in this area, we employ a part time Arts Development Manager whose role is to work with schools across the Trust to champion arts and culture, link schools and staff to arts networks, arts organisations and arts practitioners, and to support the delivery of arts projects in, beyond and across schools. An important part of our Arts Development Manager’s work is supporting our schools with Artsmark and Arts Award.

Artsmark

Artsmark is the creative quality standard for schools accredited by Arts Council England and managed through Goldsmiths, University of London. It helps schools to develop and celebrate their commitment to arts and cultural education for all children and is awarded at Silver, Gold and Platinum levels.

Arts Award

Arts Award is a set of recognised arts qualifications at five different levels: Discover, Explore, Bronze, Silver and Gold, designed for pupils from primary to sixth form.

Cultural Leadership Network

A further important Trust initiative in the arts spearheaded by Bottisham Village College is our Cultural Leadership Network. This builds on our established subject networks and brings staff across all key stages together in an annual event to share ideas and pedagogy, and to develop skills.

Arts Council England

In recognition of our outstanding work in the arts, Anglian Learning has a Memorandum of Understanding with Arts Council England, which you can read more about here.
