Collaborative Art Exhibition

Since 2019, Anglian Learning has held a joint annual exhibition of pupil artwork from its secondary schools and sixth forms in the Michaelhouse Centre in central Cambridge. The centre opens as a café during the day and has an estimated 2,000 visitors a week, so is an excellent venue in which to showcase our pupils’ creativity.

Giving our Pupils a Platform

Each year our exhibition is called Platform, followed by the year. This annual exhibition showcases the excellent work taking place in our art departments and includes work from across the age ranges, covering a variety of techniques and media, including painting, photography and textiles, in both traditional and more abstract styles.

Working collaboratively

The heads of art from the Trust’s secondary schools and sixth forms come together to curate the exhibition. This also provides an important opportunity for staff informally to share skills and knowledge.

The annual exhibition takes place in November and runs over two weeks, with a Private View to mark the official opening. The Private View provides an opportunity for pupils to enjoy the exhibition at leisure, to see their work in a prestigious venue and to be inspired by the other artworks on display. It also allows for both teachers and pupils from our different schools to meet and discuss practice, and for the wider community to enjoy the excellent work taking place in our schools. Each year a different school also provides musicians to play at the Private View, setting the mood for a fantastic evening.
