Oakes Students Raise Over £700 for Chosen Charity
This term, Mrs Hayward, Miss Noakes and the Student Council have been working together to run events to help raise money for our chosen charity ‘Head to Toe’. Following the success of raising £400 last year for the charity Wintercomfort, the students wanted to challenge themselves and set a target of £500 by Christmas 2024. They managed to smash this and raise over £700 for a great, local cause.
The students ran bake sales, sold sweet bags and organised our annual Charity Winter Ball. We had over 60 students attend the evening for quizzes, a raffle, glitter tattoos, a dress-up photo booth, Just Dance and Karaoke – it was a fantastic festive evening with lots of great prizes!
Many thanks to the Student Council for planning a fantastic quiz and to all of the Oakes staff who gave up their Friday evening to support the event.
Mr Syposz said: “This was a great example of our golden thread of fostering cultural capital, with students taking a lead in organising and running the event – well done to all involved.”
