Platform 24

Over 30 pieces of artwork by pupils in secondary schools and a sixth form across East Anglia go on display at an art exhibition in Michaelhouse Café, Cambridge.

Platform 24, this year’s instalment of Anglian Learning’s annual Platform Exhibition, involves over 70 pupils, from year 7 to sixth form, across the multi-academy Trust’s six secondary schools and sixth form.

Visitors to Michaelhouse Café can view the artworks between 11 to 23 November.

Lesley Morgan, Arts Development Manager at Anglian Learning, said “Alongside empowering our pupils by having their artwork publicly exhibited, Platform 24 provides an important opportunity for colleagues across our schools to collaborate, discuss best practices and enhance their delivery of creative subjects”.

Duncan Cooper, Director of Secondary Education at Anglian Learning, said “I am deeply impressed by the exceptional quality of our pupils’ work this year. I extend my gratitude to their teachers, whose dedication to art provides an inspiring environment where creativity thrives, allowing pupils to be bold and expressive in their artistic journeys”.

Jonathan Culpin, CEO of Anglian Learning, said: “The diverse and expressive artwork on display speaks volumes about the creativity and passion within our schools. As a Trust which focuses on creating a Sense of Belonging and aspiration, I am pleased to see so many pupils keen to exhibit their artwork and proudly represent their school.”

The artwork on display covers a range of techniques and media, including painting, photography, and textiles, in both traditional and more abstract styles. The schools taking part include Bassingbourn, Bottisham, Linton and Sawston Village Colleges, Joyce Frankland Academy, Newport and Sixth Form, and The Netherhall School

On 11 November, a private view was held for the pupils, their families and members of the Trust to mark the official opening of the exhibition. Also in attendance were musicians from Bottisham Village College who played a mixture of instruments, including the violin and harp, throughout the event.
