We have begun our programme of conferences for Deputy Principals and Assistant Principals, with a brilliant, thought-provoking opening session from Ben Knight of UWE last month.

Ben explored with our senior leaders how we can, and must, nurture professional judgement in our teachers and leaders, giving colleagues decisional capital in the complex, reflexive school environment. Whether in the classroom, a team meeting or when making strategic decisions, teachers, school leaders and professional services teams are making countless micro and macro decisions that depend upon expert judgement.

Many thanks to Ben Knight; we are very much looking forward to our second cohort’s session later this term.
