Wimbish Allotment – officially opened!
Recently we welcomed Major General Alastair Dickinson CBE from the Royal Engineers Association to officially open the new raised beds in our allotment. The Major General was joined by a group of Sappers from Carver Barracks to help with the opening and to plant the remaining plants. Our allotment is now full of herbs, strawberries, fruit bushes, courgettes, tomatoes, beans and to add some colour and to help the bees, lavender and salvias.
The Major General presented us with a beautiful plaque to mark the occasion.
Considering it was the hottest day of the year so far, the children were superbly behaved. As part of the celebrations the children all planted a sunflower seed which they have brought home. We look forward to seeing some photographs later in the summer to see just how tall they have grown!
