🗣️ Young people find their voice in our first 🗣️ Young people find their voice in our first Trust-wide arts conference!

This week saw pupils from across our secondary schools debate the power of the arts and build confidence in their public speaking skills.

Hosted at Linton Village College and joined by special guest @geoffbartonsuffolk, former @ascl_uk General Secretary and current Chair of the Oracy Education Commission, pupils discussed topics like:

🎶 More music at KS3
🎭 Why arts subjects matter
🎬 The value of school productions

Pupils collaborated in mixed-school groups, developing presentations without notes or visual aids, and received expert feedback before recording their final versions for film.

A big thank you to Helen Frost and Lesley Morgan for organising the event, and to the #CreativityCollaboratives project for making it possible 👏

What our pupils say about #TeachingForCreativity 🗣️

Pupils across our schools told us that having greater independence in their learning helps them think more creatively, bringing a real sense of pride and accomplishment.

Secondary school pupils, in particular, highlighted the value of being challenged. They linked challenge directly to success, confidence and increased enjoyment in lessons. 🙌

As one pupil shared: “If we’re not challenged, then we’re not learning anything, we’re not progressing.”

Another reflected: “I like being challenged. It helps you build up confidence… If you just stick with the easy route, you’re not going to learn anything. If you solve it, it’s really rewarding.”

Creativity in Practice 🧪 As part of our #Teach Creativity in Practice 🧪

As part of our #TeachingForCreativity project, Year 9 pupils at Bassingbourn Village College embarked on a unique science lesson exploring the Mantle of Expert effect on pupils’ engagement in the classroom.

Pupils were tasked with formulating research questions and selecting scientific roles to guide their investigations. 🧑‍🔬

They planned and conducted experiments, which they proudly displayed in a science fair to their classmates. The impact of the learning opportunity brought positive and surprising outcomes for all pupils involved.

We are proud to launch Anglian Learning’s ‘Tea We are proud to launch Anglian Learning’s ‘Teaching for Creativity’ playbook! 🎉

This practical guide is the result of a three-year journey through the Creativity Collaboratives programme, supported by @aceagrams and the @freelandsfoundation .

Since 2021, our colleagues have been exploring how to embed teaching for creativity at the core of classroom practice, cultivating the conditions for pupils to think originally, imaginatively, and inquisitively.

Through hands-on experimentation with approaches to teaching for creativity across our schools, we have developed a playbook designed to share leadership tips, spark curiosity, ignite ideas, and support meaningful learning experiences.

A heartfelt thank you to all the incredible staff and pupils whose energy, ideas and commitment helped bring this project to life 👏

To celebrate the playbook’s launch, we will be sharing the impact of our findings, starting with our secondary schools. Stay tuned for further updates!
