ASCL Conference – Energy and Sustainability

ASCL Conference – Energy and Sustainability

Sustainability is a key focus of our Trust’s operations and the current energy and economic crises have brought this into even sharper focus.  This year’s Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL) conference welcomed Chief Executive Officer, Jonathan Culpin and Chief Operating Officer, Charity Main, to a panel session to discuss how our Trust is taking crucial steps to maximise efficiency and minimise our energy usage across our fifteen academies.

The discussion, which was hosted by Zenergi’s Head of Business Development, Chris Jermy, detailed how Anglian Learning is navigating these uncertain times, both practically and strategically.

Jonathan and Charity explained how our priorities and approaches to energy efficiency are aiding our net zero targets, and that not all changes have to be on a large scale in order to achieve considerable savings.  They highlighted our Trust-wide Climate Change Strategic Group which engages school communities in our energy efficiency measures, and how we have achieved some quick wins by utilising ‘Energy 101’ posters and installing energy saving devices on refrigeration equipment.

Charity Main said “Energy efficiency is a key focus for Anglian Learning, both in terms of what the whole Trust community (pupils and staff) can do and our wider capital investment.  It was a pleasure to share some of our experience with education leaders.”
