Grand Opening of Anglian Leisure Joyce Frankland
Anglian Leisure’s newest centre in Joyce Frankland Academy, Newport, was officially opened on Saturday 22 April 2023 after a successful 6-month trial run.
The sports centre was officially opened by ex-professional footballer, Luke Chadwick. Celebrations of free sports activities were hosted for the local community.
A variety of exciting activities commenced, and members of the local community took part in games of tennis, cricket, football, futsal, netball, as well as trying out Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and Yoga. The activities were free of charge and demonstrated that members can expect a variety of interesting and engaging activities to take place alongside traditional sports.
The centre has plans to work with local and national organisations to ensure they offer a wide range of sport, fitness and leisure activities that will support the health and wellbeing of Newport’s local community.
Michelle Wilson, Anglian Leisure General Manager, said: “We hope our new facility in Newport, will become a place for the community to enjoy the wellbeing and mental health benefits physical activity has to offer and look forward to seeing the community become fitter, healthier and happier as a result.”
