Walking Week Winners

Walking Week Winners

The end of May saw the return of Anglian Learning’s Walking Week. In aid to raise awareness of #MentalHealthWeek, staff were invited to record their daily miles for the chance to be crowed the winner and receive a £25 voucher. Also up for grabs were two trophies, awarded to the Primary and Secondary schools who collectively walked the most miles.

Congratulations goes to Phillip Bradley, Site Manager of The Pines Primary School who recorded an incredible total of 52.28 miles. Phillip, a keen marathon runner, was presented his £25 John Lewis voucher by our Director of Primary Education Prue Rayner. It will come as no surprise to announce that The Pines won the most miles for the Primary School award which headteacher, Kerry Darby, accepted the trophy from Prue on behalf of the staff.

Well done also goes to Bottisham Village College, the winners of our Secondary School award with an impressive total of 156.85 miles walked during the week. CEO Jonathan Culpin presented their award to Headteacher Jenny Rankine, who accepted the trophy on behalf of the staff. Thank you to all those who took part and for sending in your pictures along the way!

Walking Week took part during Mental Health Awareness Week, with the link to exercise being a good way to deal with anxiety. The Mental Health Foundation state that gentle exercise twice a week give the following benefits:
