Captivating Virtual Choir and Orchestra at Sawston Village College
Sawston Village College’s first ever virtual choir and orchestra provided a superb and enchanting performance of ‘Gloria’ by Antonio Vivaldi recently for the enjoyment of all online.
Mr Cragg, Music Teacher, recorded the continuo part on organ and along with Miss Irwin and Miss Denton (ITT student) they recorded the soprano, alto, tenor and bass parts for the choir to rehearse with.
Pupils had access to the individual vocal parts and a mixdown of all 4 parts plus continuo to help them learn their part. With music in hand the singers and string players had to record themselves (audio or video) whilst listening along to the guide track in their ears and watching Mr Cragg’s conducting video. Videos and audio recordings were then sent to Mr Cragg who spent many, many hours putting everything together.
Miss Irwin, Head of Music said “We were thrilled to have pupils, parents and staff involved and are really proud of the end result.
“We hope it brings a moment of joy to people, we certainly enjoyed putting it all together.”
