Statement Concerning the Temporary Closure of Fen Ditton Community Primary School
It is with regret that we have taken the decision, following consultation with the Local Authority, to close all classes at Fen Ditton Community Primary School from Monday 8 February until after the half term holiday. This is the result of a number of positive cases of COVID-19 being reported to the school following transmission in the community and families not isolating quickly enough. The Trust has confidence that the arrangements in place to keep children and staff safe in place at Fen Ditton are appropriate. They have met Trust quality assurance checks and meet all published guidance.
So that leaders can keep the whole community safe, including pupils and staff and their respective families, it is really important if any member of the family , or close contact, has COVID-19 symptoms that parents self-isolate together with their children and take a test as soon as possible. Under no circumstances should children of families who are showing symptoms of COVID-19 be sent to school. Similarly, where a family member has tested positive, the whole family who have been in any form of contact with them must self-isolate and access a test. Finally, the school must be informed immediately of suspected or positive cases of COVID-19 in order that action can be taken promptly to protect staff and pupils from transmission of the virus within school.
If parents do not follow these guidelines everyone is placed at risk. With a growing number of people dying from the disease and many suffering from the long term effects of COVID-19, no one should be in any doubt of the seriousness of this disease. We do ask, for the safety of our school community, that you follow this guidance at all times.
